The students of Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OSUSTECH) have made good their threat to stage a protest if other students groups stage any form of protest against the recent tuition increase for students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA).
The students, who staged a peaceful rally of their own to coincide with the that of the students groups, later addressed media men, during which they condemned the activities of the state National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
You will recall that the students had earlier condemned what they termed as a ‘selfish and bias’ action by NANS over the tuition increase in AAUA.
According to them, the action of NANS to suddenly rise up to stage a protest because of the tuition increase in a sister institution, while students of OSUSTECH, have for a longtime paid higher fees, is suspicious.
The students cited the example of huge disparity between they fees paid before now and those paid by their brothers and sisters in AAUA.
“Before now, we in OSUSTECH have been paying between N120, 000 and N150,000 as tuition per session. Our counterparts in UNIMED pay between N200,000 and N450,000 per session. Within this period, AAUA students paid between N23,000 and N37,000. But nobody said anything about our situation at the time. NANS has failed us and should not be allowed to use AAUA as a porn in their game of chess.”

It is not only insane but sardonic that a government who won an election via propaganda could aim to also govern through the it’s outdated and outwitted propaganda machine.

For your information, OSUSTECH Students were in Akure yesterday in a three bus convoy to solidarise with their colleagues in AAUA. The President of the STECHites even addressed pressmen to inform them he and his executives are solidly behind the struggle for freedom from the shackles of a callous, wicked, preposterous and absurdly mad government that has refused to realise it has failed woefully.

Divide and rule is an outdated tactics used by anarchists and tyrants. ODSG will only be courting those qualifications if it continues to use this tactics.

    Wolves in sheep clothing!
