Abia State Police Command says it arrested a total of 809 crime suspects and recovered 88 arms from suspects in 438 cases between January 2025 till date.

The Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, stated this on Friday in his office while briefing Journalists on the operational strategies and achievements of his Command under the period in review.

The CP who said that 435 armunitions were recovered from suspected criminals, revealed that over 200 suspects were successfully prosecuted in Court by the command, including those sent to jail for various offenses.

The Commissioner of Police also disclosed that 33 children who were stolen or trafficked, were recovered from within and outside the State, pointing out that the suspects behind the crimes against the children were prosecuted by his Command, with some of the suspects now jailed.

“We have sent a lot of people to jail. A clear message has been passed that it is no longer business as usual for criminals in Abia State,” CP Isa stated.

He said that crime rate reduced in the State under his watch, noting that the support from Governor Alex Otti in provision of logistics, and support from community stakeholders was a key factor in the successful onslaught against criminals.

The CP also revealed that officers of his command came encountered non-state actors at various times in the state but said that those non-State actors were decimated and their weapons of attack recovered.

He appealed to Abia residents to provide more credible information to the Police about suspicious activities and movements in their areas to further achieve the war against crime.

Guns and other arms recovered from the suspected criminals were displayed at the Police headquarters Umuahia, to the media.
