Datti Baba-Ahmed, former running mate of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has dismissed claims that he had declared for the presidency in 2027.
He made this clarification known in an interview on Channels Television on Friday.
This comes as claims emerged two days ago that Baba-Ahmed had declared to run for presidency in 2027.
Reacting, Baba-Ahmed said he did not declare for presidency; rather, he only reiterated his membership in the Labour Party.
“I never declared to contest for presidency; I simply reiterated my membership in the Labour Party. Even though there could be a possibility for that happening.
“I clearly stated that one will have to wait for the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable and the party to make the call,” he said.
