An Ugandan octogenarian and great -grandmother, Maria Obonyo is on course to perfect the educational requirement that will facilitate her dream of becoming a teacher.
Mrs. Obonyo had recently joined her mates in primary one after successfully completing her nursery education at Jesus King Nursery and Primary School, Uganda.
According to Ugandan Daily Monitor, the 80-year-old farmer decided to get an education after loosing all her relatives and there was nobody to look after her.
“I decided to enrol at the school because I lost all my relatives and there was nobody to take care of me. I am determined to study until I graduate from Makerere University as a teacher”, she said.
Daily Monitor also reports that the aged woman decided to attend school after facing ridicule from people and also because she wants to learn how to read and write.
The director of the school, Stella Tayona revealed that Obonyo had enrolled in her school since baby class and that she graduated at the top of the class.
