COVID19: Nigeria Confirms 160 New Cases,Toll Hits 53,477

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,NCDC on Friday confirmed 160 new cases of COVID19 in the country taking the total infection tolls to 53,477.

The agency in it’s late night tweet said the new cases were recorded in 14states and the federal Capital territory.

Plateau State again topped the list with 44 new cases followed by Lagos which recorded 27new cases.

Other States with new Infections are: Katsina-18, Edo-15, FCT- 14, Ondo – 10, Oyo – 9, Kwara – 6, Abia- 4, Nasarawa – 4, Kano – 3, Ekiti – 2, Kaduna – 2, Kebbi, and Ogun – 1.

On a positive note, the country has successfully managed 41,017 cases who have recovered from the virus and have been discharged.

No new death was recorded as the death  toll stands at 1,011 that was recorded on Thursday.

The NCDC also announced two new additions to it’s Molecular laboratory Network bringing the total to 66labs across the state’s including the FCT.

The newly activated labs are; Bayelsa Medical University, Molecular Biology Lab, Bayelsa State and the University of Port Harcourt Regional Centre for Biotechnology & Bioresources Research, Rivers State.

Similarly, the Lily Clinic Hospital Laboratory, Benin, Edo State has been accredited as a fee-paying lab for COVID19 testing.
