Azeez tendered his resignation on health grounds, citing ongoing medical challenges that had affected his ability to effectively discharge his official responsibilities.

In a plenary session held at the Council Chamber, members of the Assembly unanimously praised Azeez for his dedication, leadership, and service to the people of Agege, while extending their best wishes for his full recovery.

The lawmakers also used the session to undertake a strategic review of the council’s committee structure and oversight operations, emphasizing the need to enhance transparency, accountability, and effective monitoring of developmental projects within the local government area.

The Council reiterated its collective resolve to build on existing achievements and ensure the delivery of development-focused governance under its renewed leadership framework.

In his acceptance remarks, the newly confirmed Chairman, AbdulGaniyu Obasa, pledged to consolidate ongoing initiatives and deepen collaboration with stakeholders to promote community development and improve service delivery across Agege.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of good governance, promising residents a more responsive, transparent, and people-oriented administration going forward.
