The undying values and legacies of the late sage and Premier of defunct Western Nigeria , Chief Obafemi Awolowo have been eloquently re-echoed by the governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for the present generation to appreciate.
This recently came to fore at the 109th posthumous birthday in honour of the great Awo, tagged: Awo’s Birthday Event.
The programme which was put together by the Ekiti state Chapter of AFENIFERE RENEWAL GROUP titled “Lest we forget”, had the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as Special Guest of Honour and the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
In his opening remarks, Arakunrin Akeredolu extolled the virtues of Chief Obafeni Awolowo and described him as a phenomenon in development and an icon of transformation.
He outlined the various world class projects which the government of Chief Obafemi Awolowo executed as Premier of the defunct Western Nigeria to include: Free Qualitative Education, first Television Station in black Africa, The Liberty Stadium, The University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, various farm Plantations across the region.
Governor Akeredolu said all progressive minded Yoruba race must at all times keep alive his monumental legacies by hoping for the best in governance so as to continue to have the late sage as the first among equals .
He enjoined the people to keep hopes alive in a bid to keep Ekiti State on the front burner of development.
