The Alakija of Ikija in Ogun State, His Royal Highness, Oba Shamusideen Ayorinde, has joined his ancestors at the age of 88.
The sad incident which happened on Saturday threw the people of Ikija Community in Egbaland, into mourning when news of his demise filtered in.
Oba Ayorinde passed on, after a brief illness.
The news of his death was released by his brother, Engineer (Chief) Seni Ayorinde, and daughter, Chief Bola Ayorinde, who is also the Otun Lika of Egbaland.
They disclosed that the late Egba monarch died in the early hours of Saturday in Abeokuta of age-related ailment.
During his lifetime, the late Oba Ayorinde was a peace-loving and community-driven monarch in Egbaland and Ogun State as a whole.
He was survived by wives, many children and grandchildren.
