Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, on Monday refused to show up for following police invitation regarding allegations of multiple rape and other offences that could disturb public peace.

The cleric had been told to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti and meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police by 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

On Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi said that Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh had ordered a full investigation into the allegations against Okafor.

Police said the invitation came after several complaints about alleged sexual offences and other actions that could disrupt public order. They also said security was in place for the alleged victims and encouraged them to come to the SCID in Panti, where the investigation has started. The police promised to keep the identities of victims and witnesses confidential and protected.

An officer at the SCID, who asked not to be named had disclosed that the pastor did not appear.

“After the CP’s directive on Sunday, the DCP told the team handling the case to debrief him, but they waited and he did not come. It is already evening, and he is clearly not coming today,” the officer said.

Another police source said Okafor had sent people to the command to ask for more time.

“We got calls from people speaking for him, asking the police to give him more time. They promised he would still come. That is all I know for now,” the source said.

No alleged victims or witnesses came to the SCID on Monday to identify themselves or give statements.

“None of the victims or witnesses came to the SCID for questioning either,” a police source added.

The controversy started in mid-December 2025, when several allegations against the pastor appeared on social media and spread widely.

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala made one of the allegations. In a series of Instagram videos posted on December 14, 2025, she said she had a long-term sexual relationship with the pastor starting in 2017. She also accused him of breaking promises to marry her, sharing explicit content, and playing a part in the end of her previous marriage.

In response to the backlash, Okafor reportedly spoke to his congregation on New Year’s Day, apologized for past “mistakes,” and knelt at the pulpit to ask for forgiveness.

The scandal has also led to reports that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may take disciplinary action against him.

The pastor is said to have stepped aside from his duties while investigations and public scrutiny continue.
