The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has reported 754 more COVID-19 cases on Thursday amid concerns over the new Omicron variant.
In an update on Friday morning, the health agency said the new infections were recorded in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Lagos, which has been the epicentre of the pandemic since its outbreak had the highest number of infected person with 595 new cases while FCT reported 68cases.
Other States with new infection include; Imo with 49 new infections, Edo – 3; Oyo – 9; Delta – 5; Katsina – 4; Kano – 3 , Plateau – 3, Ekiti – 2; Gombe – 2 and Rivers – 1.
Thursday’s new cases bring in the number of infected persons in the country to 215,918.
Of the figure, 207,619 discharged have been discharged; 2,981 deaths were reported.
