The Anambra State Government has shut down a brothel, Happiness Guest House in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of the state and evacuated ten s3x workers, including underaged girls.
Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) enforcement team carried out the operation on Thursday, January 16, 2025, after intelligence reports revealed that the brothel harbours underaged s3x workers, drug peddlers, armed robbers and other criminals.
The agency’s Managing Director, Celestine Anere, stated that the agency embarked upon the operation after due monitoring of the place.
“This operation was carried out after an intelligence report showed that their illegal activities had aided all kinds of crimes, ranging from drug trafficking to under-aged s3x workers,” he said.
“The brothel is also a hideout for armed robbers and all sorts of criminal activities.
“We have vowed to ensure that the operators of the facility are arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who might be running similar illegal activities in the state.”
