The Action Peoples Party (APP) has unveiled its interim State Executive Committee in Imo State.
The party’s National Chairman, Uchenna Nnadi, and National Secretary, Abu Bossan, made this known in a joint statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
The party named Ernest Njesi as interim chairman, Emeka Onwukwe as secretary and Emma Bukar as the organising secretary.
According to the statement, the new team will consolidate grassroots structures and strengthen mobilisation across the 27 local government areas of the state.
It said that the unveiling followed weeks of quiet consultations, led by Amadi, a frontline governorship aspirant and founder of The Mazi Organisation (TMO), who recently adopted APP as his platform for the 2027 governorship race.
The statement said that under the party’s zoning formula, Orlu zone produced the chairman, Owerri zone the secretary and Okigwe Zone the organising secretary.
The arrangement was said to be seeing as promoting inclusion and balance within the party.
The statement also quoted party supporters as hailing the move as “a political rebirth for Imo,” while telling the ruling APC in the state to start parking out of Douglas House, the seat of government.
The APP national leadership, in its message, congratulated the new officers and urged them to serve with dedication, unity and integrity.
It stated that the party’s rise would be built on inclusion and disciplined mobilisation.
“With this development, the APP, once viewed as a fringe platform, had become the centerpiece of a widening coalition seeking to redefine Imo’s political landscape ahead of 2027,” the statement said.
The latest move by APP is seen as the most visible sign of a new opposition bloc, backed by key figures like Dr Chima Amadi, Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere, Mr Uche Ogbuagu, among others, in the state.
