Residents of Damaturu and its environs have been advised not to panic over the sound of explosions expected to occur during a military training exercise at the Damaturu Military Cantonment.

Capt. MN Shehu, acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations (ADAPR), made this known at a news conference in Damaturu on Wednesday.

He said the training is scheduled to hold between July 2 and July 3, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

He added that Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI would be conducting practical sessions involving the firing of simple charges as part of its Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training.

“The general public residing in Damaturu are hereby advised not to panic when they hear series of explosive sounds,” he said.

According to Shehu, the practical session is part of efforts to enhance operational readiness of personnel in combating emerging security threats.

He said the exercise would be safely conducted within the confines of the military facility and under strict supervision.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Operation HADIN KAI is the Nigerian Army’s ongoing counter-insurgency operation in the North-East region.(NAN)
