Emerging accounts from government sources and hospital staff revealed that the Deputy Governor slumped during official hours and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. Efforts by medical personnel to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Security around the FMC was reportedly tightened shortly after his arrival as top government functionaries gathered at the facility.

Senior administrative officials and multiple local news outlets have confirmed the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, the Bayelsa State Government and his family have not released any information on the circumstances surrounding his death

Senator Ewhrudjakpo, a former federal lawmaker and seasoned administrator, has been a key figure in Governor Douye Diri’s administration since 2020.
