Benue State Executive Council, EXCO, has approved supplementary budget estimates of twenty one billon, seventy-four million, one hundred and twenty six thousand, six hundred and eighty-four naira (N21,074,126,684.00) only for the 2021 fiscal year.
EXCO gave the approval during its sitting held yesterday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi and presided over by its Chairman, Governor Samuel Ortom.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Mrs Ngunan Addingi said EXCO also approved award of contract to Ms Privent Construction Nigeria Limited for the construction of streets along Holy Family Catholic church beside Heavy Duty Garage and adjourning streets in North Bank at the cost of N237,966,07.18 million naira only.
According to Mrs Addingi, EXCO also gave approval for the renovation of Hospital Management Board Headquarters Makurdi at the cost of N74,955.350 million naira in addition to the engagement of personnel in all health institutions in the state.
The Information, Culture and Tourism Commissioner told journalists that EXCO approved partnership for expansion of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, WASH programme for revitalization of the sector with a counterpart contribution of N250,000,000 naira already intact.
Mrs Addingi also stated that EXCO
approved the amendment of the Community Volunteer Guard Law of 20th July, 2000 Chapter 39 to include the leadership and coordination structure.
She added that EXCO also approved the creation of Benue State Audit Service Commission empowered by law to function independently of the Ministry of Finance and amended the Audit law as well as approved the disposal of obsolete items in the stores of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
