Members of Boko Haram sect have allegedly attacked a military convoy and carted away cash and equipment belonging to the military.
According to reports, soldiers of the Nigerian Army Super Camp 3 and the 231 Battalion — both under Sector 2 Operation Lafiya Dole, were moving supplies from Damaturu, Yobe State, to Biu, Borno State on Friday September 6th when they were ambushed by the dreaded sect around Azare-Kamuya end of the highway.
It was gathered that a gunbattle between the soldiers and the sect members left one of the soldiers seriously injured.
A gun truck for the 231 Battalion was seized by the insurgents and taken away. The Boko Haram members also made away with N15,492,000 in ration cash allowance for soldiers on the frontlines.
At N1,000 per day, the amount was said to be covering allowances of 20,000 troops for a week.
The Nigerian Army is yet to comment on the latest attack.
