The former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Zakawanu Garuba, has passed away.
Garuba died in the early hours of Saturday, July 18.
He died of an undisclosed ailment at an Abuja hospital.
The deceased was a two-time member of Edo Assembly.
He was elected into the Edo State House of Assembly in 2003, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
Garuba served as chairman of the House committee on judiciary, human rights, and legal matters.
He became the Speaker of the House in 2007.
Garuba was appointed into the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission where he served as the Executive Commissioner, Finance and Administration after his tenure ended.
