Following the fake news being circulated on the social media about an alleged altercation between the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa and Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, during the APC NEC meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, Doguwa has said that nothing near what was reported between him and the governor.
While speaking with our reporter in Abuja on Wednesday, Hon Doguwa expressed surprise at the story, maintaining that he never had any such altercation with Akeredolu
“The writer of this story is wicked. The NEC meeting in Abuja was an APC family affair and we all stated our positions without any form of malice. I was truly surprised one of aide drew my attention to the story. As a matter of fact, we in the APC are very proud of Akeredolu’s achievements, both in private life and public office.
“From the records available, he has surpassed all expectations in Ondo State with landmark achievement in a little over one year. Here is a governor who met seven months unpaid salaries, met many uncompleted projects and inherited over N20 billion debt, but in spite of this, he has recorded great achievements.
“I also make bold to say that nothing that was stated in the report happened between me and the governor, who incidentally is my good friend and brother. The story is nothing but a figment of the writer’s imagination. Is it not funny that no national daily has the version of the report? That is enough to tell that it is FAKE NEWS,” Doguwa said.
It will be recalled that some mischief makers that the Reps member insulted the Ondo State governor at the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja.
Also speaking, a source who was present at the meeting described the story as a cheap attempt by some disgruntled enemies of the party to cause a rift in its ranks.
The source, a member of the party’s NWC, advised media practitioners to always ensure that what is presented to the public is true.
