The body of late Nigeria former President, Muhammadu Buhari has now departed airport for Daura, his hometown, where he will be buried later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
The body was received by dignitaries led by President Bola Tinubu at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina after which it was placed in an ambulance for its final journey home to Daura.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, died at the age of 82 following a brief illness.
Crowds have already begun gathering in Daura in anticipation of his burial, as tributes continue to pour in from within and beyond Nigeria
