Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on Monday in Yola imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area.
The directive followed a renewed bout of communal violence on Sunday evening that left parts of the community tense and unsafe.
The directive was issued through a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Hammangabdo in Monday.
The government said the decisive measure was necessary to prevent further escalation and safeguard lives and property.
According to the statement, the governor instructed security operatives to move into all affected locations with urgency and enforce peace and order.
The communication stressed that the administration would not tolerate acts capable of threatening public safety or disrupting communal harmony.
Residents of Lamurde were urged to remain calm and cooperate fully with security personnel as operations continue.
The government expressed confidence that the swift intervention would help contain the unrest and avert wider disruption across the area.
Authorities say surveillance has been strengthened and additional personnel deployed to ensure the return of normalcy, describing the situation as serious but under active control
