A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of Elijah Innocent, 24, in correctional custody for allegedly r@ping a 19-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant is suspected of committing an offence against the victim, which is punishable under Section 265(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor also mentioned that the original case file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until July 8 for mention.
