The Ondo State Government has received palliatives in form of relief materials from OLAM Nig. Ltd. as part of the Company’s support to the government in fighting the CoronaVirus pandemic.
Items donated by the multinational company which has fledging business interests in Cocoa Value Chains, included 1,000 bottles of Hand Sanitizers, 5,000 pieces of Nose Masks and 3,200 cartons of Cherry Noodles.
Presenting the items to the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, at the Government House in Akure, the Branch Manager of OLAM Nig Ltd. Mr Arunkarthick said the gesture was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the state to fight the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic and cushion its negative effects on the citizens.
He added that the gesture was to identify with the people whose capacities to embark on diverse ventures to make ends meet at this time are greatly hampered as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the global community.
Mr Arunkarthick Ashokkumar said the company cannot afford to leave the state government alone in the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic, saying it is necessary for corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to rise up to support the government to collectively defeat the virus.
“You know COVID-19 pandemic is a global issue and it is wrecking havoc across the globe. It’s time for companies across the globe to intensify their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to combat this COVID-19”, he said.
The Branch Manager also advised the people of the state to always take necessary precautions, maintain social distancing and proper hygiene to stay safe and prevent the global pandemic.
Receiving the items, Governor Akeredolu, appreciated the company for contributing significantly to the efforts at supporting the residents of the state to weather through the consequential effects of COVID-19.
Arakunrin Akeredolu described the items as very essential to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, just as he assured OLAM of necessary support to boost their investment in the state.
He added that his administration is investors’ friendly hence it would continue to create an enabling environment to attract investors to improve the economy of the state.
Also, the National President, Cocoa Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (CFAN), Comrade Adeola Adegoke, applauded the OLAM for showing interest in the welfare of the people of the state by putting smiles on their faces to cushion the effects of stay-at-home caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
He equally thanked the management of the company for their usual various support for farmers in the country to better their lives.
