Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 417 new cases of the COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 49,485.
The NCDC made this known on its official twitter on Monday.
According to it, two deaths were recorded in the country as the death tolls rise to 977 while 36,834 have been discharged.
The centre added that Lagos had the highest number of infections recoded for the day with 207 cases, followed by Kaduna with 44 cases.
Other States with new cases according to the agency are: Ondo – 38; Abia-28; Anambra – 21 and Plateau – 20,Bauchi – 13, Oyo – 9; Ebonyi – 9; Delta – 7; Edo – 7; Enugu – 6; Niger – 3; Gombe – 2; Ogun – 1; FCT – 1 and Kano -1.
The NCDC said that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, has continued to coordinate the national response activities across the country.
The health agency said that properly fitted face masks would allow adequate air flow and still offer protection from COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases.
“Wear a mask properly. Covering your nose and mouth, no gaps, secured with straps and at least three layers of fabric,” it advised.
Meanwhile, the health agency says it is making use of SORMAS, a digital surveillance tool which facilitates real-time reporting of cases of epidemic-prone diseases including COVID-19 by health workers across the country.
“By digitalising disease surveillance data, states are able to share information and engage in rapid decision-making .
According to Africa CDC, seven African countries will start testing for COVID-19 antibodies beginning next week in an effort to understand the extent of the outbreak of the virus in Africa.
The countries, which will be the first set, are Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Morocco.
