Veteran Nigerian musician, John Asiemo, aka Daddy Showkey, has criticised Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, over his controversial directive to arrest any individual wearing dreadlocks in the state
In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Daddy Showkey, known for his signature dreadlocks, slammed the governor’s directive and questioned if the hairstyles is associated with insecurity.
While revealing plans to cancel his scheduled trip to Niger State following the directive, Showkey challenged the governor to cut off his own beard first before cutting people’s hair.
He wrote: “Mohammed Umar na Dada be your problem? I dey come to Minna but now that you asked your security agents to cut off dreadlocks, so hold your state but make you cut your beer beer.”
Recall that Governor Bago gave the instruction in Minna during a security meeting on Tuesday.
He explained that the measure is part of his government’s efforts to curb the resurgence of insecurity in Minna, the state capital.
