The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has been impeached.
The embattled former deputy governor was impeached by the state House of Assembly at plenary on Monday.
18 of the 20 members that were present at the plenary voted in favour of the panel report while one voted against.
The impeachment was sequel to Justice S.A. Omonua (rtd)-led seven-man panel investigation of the impeachment petition against the former deputy governor.
The panel in its report said the allegation of perjury was not proved beyond reasonable doubt by the complainant against Shaibu.
It however, said that the allegation of disclosure of government official documents was proved beyond reasonable.
The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku directed that a clean copy of the impeachment decision by the House be sent to the Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki for assent.
