The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has congratulated Muslims in the State on the occassion of this year’s celebration of Eide Kabir.
This congratulatory message was contained in a press statement signed by the Speaker’s Special Adviser on media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo in Ado Ekiti.
Afuye urged Muslims in the State to celebrate moderately and uphold one of the pillars of Islam which is peace. “We should be solemn and sober in our celebrations at this time. The space for real celebrations shall soon return by the power of Allah,” .
The speaker also enjoined worshippers to comply with the COVID-19 protocols by maintaining social distancing and not clustering together to worship at a central place this year.
Afuye who disclosed that Ekiti Assembly is currently on recess, reiterated the commitment of the House to pass laws that guarantee peaceful coexistence and harmony of the Ekiti people in all religions.
He then solicited for the prayers of our Muslim faithfuls to remember the Governor and other people who have tested positive to COVID-19, in their prayers.
