The Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero has assured the support of his emirate towards the realization of the success of the Kano state government’s policy of Free and Compulsory Education.
He gave the assuarance when he recieved the commissioner of education and his management staff on courtesy visit in his palace.
The Emir saluted the courage by the state government for enacting a law on Free and Compulsory Education, calling on all and sundry to join hands in supporting the state education sector as government alone cannot shoulder it.
Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero therefore, appeal to the ministry to do more in ensuring that the quality of teachers is maintained through training and retraining.
He further advised for the provision of teaching and learning aids as well as frequent provision of infrastructure in our schools, maintaining that doing so will facilitate good learning environment.
Bayero also called on the ministry to include vocational trainings in the curriculum of the Schools across the state as that will assist the students to be productive in the society.
In the same vein the Emir has attributed the perpetration of Almajiri schools largely to culture not total poverty calling on the reverse of the trend for a better society.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru told the Emir that he was at the Palace to pay homage as well as to intimate him on the issue of Free and compulsory Education law.
The commisioner disclosed that traditional institutions have vital role to play in the success of the law, hence the need for their support.
The commissioner also revealed that the ministry has done so much in the transformation of the Tsangaya system of education in the state, stressing that more will be done in that direction.
