The embattled former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, Farouk Ahmed, has formally transferred leadership of the regulatory agency to Saidu Aliyu Mohammed.
NMDPRA disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, confirming that the handover ceremony took place the same day. According to the statement, the transition underscores NMDPRA’s commitment to continuity, accountability, and effective leadership.
“The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority on Tuesday conducted a formal handover ceremony to mark the transition from the outgoing Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed, to the incoming Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed,” the statement said.
Recall that Ahmed stepped down following allegations by Dangote Refinery President Aliko Dangote that he paid $5 million to fund his four children’s education abroad. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has since announced plans to investigate the allegation.
Ahmed had earlier denied the claims before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu replaced him with Mohammed, who was later screened and confirmed by Nigeria’s National Assembly.
