The Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19 has shutdown the Jabi Lake Mall indefinitely for violating the presidential TaskForce’s ban on public gatherings as part of measures to curb COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja.
The shut down came a day after hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola, Naira Marley, held a concert at the mall on Saturday.
The FCTA in a tweet on Sunday said the mall was sealed off for violating presidential task force directives on ban on public gatherings.
“The FCT Ministerial Task Team on #COVID19 seals up Jabi Lake Mall indefinitely for violating Presidential Task Force’s directives on the ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of the dreaded pandemic in the territory,” FCTA said.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the closure of the mall, Leader of the Task Team, Mr Ikharo Attah, said the management of the Mall had consistently violated the FCTA’s guidelines on COVID-19.
He disclosed that the FCTA had secured a judgement from a mobile court headed by Magistrate Idayat Akonni, who sat in the mall premises in Jabi.
The Magistrate ordered the mall to be sealed over default of the COVID-19 protocols bearing three-count charge.
