An explosion was averted by some officials of the Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service on Tuesday at Yerevan Petroleum Filling Station (PFS) on Ajayi Road, Ogba, Lagos.
In a statement issued by the agency Head of Public Relations Unit Jamiu Dosumu, Acting Head, Margaret Adeseye confirmed the aversion during her meeting with the operational men from the Agency’s Headquarters at Alausa, Ikeja.
” A distress call was received at about O621hrs to Yerevan Petroleum Filling Station (PFS) 29, Ajayi Road, Eagle bus stop Ogba, Ojodu LCDA. Firemen from Alausa and Agege Fire Station were swiftly mobilized to the scene for rescue operation.

“On arrival, it was discovered that a 33,000 Tanker loaded with PMS (Petrol) was discharging to the underground storage facility of the station when its rear tyres and a 33KVA transformer installed at
the entrance of the petrol station caught fire.
“The fire was quickly doused, preventing the ripple effect of explosion and ensuing loss of lives and property. Fortunately only one dispensing machine was partially affected.
“The cause of the fire which is under investigation resulted from the discharging valve of the tanker. No injury or loss of life involved in the incident ” Adeseye said.
