Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, safely arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, on Wednesday, October 8, ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The contingent departed Abuja at 7:18 a.m. and touched down in Casablanca at 11:28 a.m. local time after a smooth flight. The team is currently lodged at the Ibis Hotel in Casablanca and is scheduled to hold a light training session later in the evening to recover from the journey.
The Flamingos, coached by Bankole Olowookere, head into the tournament with impressive momentum, having won all 10 of their friendly matches in the build-up, scoring 44 goals without conceding any.
The team will intensify their preparations in Casablanca with two high-profile international friendlies before moving to the official FIFA hotel in Rabat on October 15:.. On Friday, October 10: Friendly match against New Zealand and on Tuesday, October 14: Friendly match against Paraguay
The final tournament kicks off on October 17. The Flamingos have been drawn into Group D, where they will face: Canada (October 19), France (October 22), Samoa (October 25).
The team is aiming to surpass their performance in the last edition of the tournament, where they reached the quarter-finals.
