Suspected bandits running away from the ongoing military operation in Zamfara State have killed six persons and abducted others in Tureta local government area of Sokoto State.

Following the invasion by the bandits, according to local sources, many people were injured and are now receiving treatment in the hospital.

Besides the invasion of the bandits in the area, it is also experiencing current shutdown of telecommunication network in the neighbouring state.

According to the source, the bandits stormed the area around 2am early Thursday morning.

The source explained that the attackers called for Muslim’s prayers to deceive the members of the community .

“The residents started coming out, thinking it was a time for a dawn prayer and the bandits started shooting at them.”

Alhaji Maniru Dan’iya, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State who visited the area assured the people of the government’s commitment to end banditry in the state.

He also assured that the state government would pay all the bills of the injured persons.
