A gas-laden truck has exploded along the Warri-Benin Expressway in Delta state.
The incident occurred around 7 pm on Saturday at Ugbenu, Ethiope West council area when the gas-laden truck reportedly fell while avoiding a bad portion of the road.
Firefighters from the Delta Fire Service were immediately drafted to the scene of the incident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident, noted it was yet to be ascertained if there were casualties.

“I just called the DPO Oghara, he said a gas truck actually went up in flames but the casualties could not be ascertained right now because of the flames.”
The Warri – Benin expressway has become a death trap due to the dilapidated state of the road. Barely, few months ago, about 20 persons were reportedly burnt to death in an explosion from a tanker at a collapsed portion of the highway.
