Gombe state Government has imposed a 24hours curfew in Billiri Local Government Area with immediate effect following the eruption of violence in Billiri town.
Government also suspended all form of gathering in the local government.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi on Friday said the curfew became necessary to curb the violence which has degenerated to security threat to both lives and property.
While directing security agencies to ensure strict compliance to the directive, Njodi called for peaceful co-existence among citizens.
The statement reads ” Following the current eruption of violence in Billiri town,which has degenerated into a security threat to both lives and property. Gombe State Government has imposed 24 hours curfew within Billie local government area with immediate effect from today,19th February,2021
” The Government affirmed the need for peaceful co-existence among citizenry and commitment to the protection of lives and properties. Consequently the Government has suspended all forms of gatherings in Billiri Local Government Area.
“All Security Agencies are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with this directive. All citizens are expected to comply with the directive except those Personnels providing essential services.”
