The Gombe State Government has set up a standing committee on the new national minimum wage.
The State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya made this known on Saturday in a press statement signed by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli.
The statement was issued following Yahaya’s courtesy call on Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to Yahaya, the standing committee, headed by his deputy Manassah Jatau, was still exploring ways to implement the new national minimum wage for workers.
“Most states have set up committees; in Gombe, we have a standing committee headed by the Deputy Governor. They are working with the labour unions to ensure that we do the right thing.
“It is a law, but implementation normally involves consequential adjustment, and each state has to follow the process properly to get it right”.
