Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that, his administration will soon award contract for road construction from Gumau, Rishi to Tulu and Tama communities of Toro Local Government Areas of the state to fast track the speedy development of the affected areas.
The governor announced this when he visited the ongoing road construction from Maraban Ganye to Gwalpada in continuation of his inspection visit to completed and ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration.
Governor Bala Mohammed said the readiness of his administration to award fresh roads project in various communities of Toro Local Government is to open up the area for economic development and to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the area.
The governor said the road construction from Maraban Ganye to Gwalpada which was initially awarded by the immediate past administration at the cost of over one point six billion naira, but after extensive consultation, the contractor reduced one hundred and twenty million naira to his administration out of the total sum of the contract.
He said already the state government has paid eight hundred million naira for the project as it has so far reached seventy five percent stage of completion and pledged to support it full execution.
“You know this project was initially awarded by the immediate past Government , but my administration decided to continue with the project for the benefit of this community.”
“I want to assure you that my administration will not abandon any project that is people-oriented. Our administration has taken over all the projects inherited from the past administration because they are for the benefits of the people of the state.”
Governor Bala Mohammed said the ongoing road construction from Maraban Ganye to Gwalpada, when completed, will open up the area for economic activities which is known for the farming of food crops notably sweet potatoes, tomatoes, pepper, onions and among others.
The governor who commissioned some projects at General Hospital Toro, said his administration in partnership with NSHIP has renovated more than one hundred and ninety primary healthcare centres to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
While answering questions from journalists after inspecting facilities at Gubi Dam water treatment plant, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed optimism that, when completed, the ongoing water expansion programme will bring to an end, scarcity of water supply in Bauchi metropolis.
Projects visited and inspected by Governor Bala Mohammed in his fourth day inspection visit ,include : the ongoing road construction from Maraban Ganye to Gwalpada, renovated General Hospital Toro, renovated Primary Healthcare Centre Magama Gumau, Rimin Zayan electrification, renovation of District Head palace Nabardo, renovated Primary Healthcare Centre Nabardo, elevated water tank Miri, renovated Primary Healthcare Centre Tashan Dirmi, booster station ATAP.
Others are, Buzaye reservoir, access road to Gubi Dam, Gubi Dam embankment, Gubi Dam water treatment plant, Gubi Dam staff quarters, warinje reservoir, ongoing road construction from Malam Goje-Bakin Kura-Muda Lawal Market road.
