Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday signed the N871.3 billion 2026 appropriation bill into law, following its approval by the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

The governor had initially presented a proposed budget of N861.3 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the state legislature on December 4.

After deliberations, the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation submitted a report recommending a total estimate of N871.337 billion.

Presenting the report, Committee Chairman Rilwanu Na-Gambo explained that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, appeared before the committee to defend their proposals.

He noted a significant improvement in the revenue profile of most MDAs and recommended an additional N8 billion for capital expenditure for the Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as N2 billion for recurrent expenditure for the Zamfara House of Assembly.

While passing the bill, Speaker Bilyaminu Isma’il said the budget considered the strategic priorities of Governor Lawal’s administration, including security, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure.

He added that the budget was designed to meet the needs of citizens at the local government level while promoting equity and inclusion across sectors.

Top government officials present during the signing included the state Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mumini, and Speaker Bilyaminu Isma’il.
