The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that it has received a formal petition from Alhaji Aliko Dangote, against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.
The agency in a statement signed by its spokesperson, John Okor Odey, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 said the petition was submitted through Dangote’s legal representatives and formally acknowledged by the Commission the same day.
According to the ICPC, the petition has been duly logged and will be subjected to a thorough investigative process in line with its statutory mandate.
“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday, 16th December 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed,” the statement read.
The Commission further assured the public that the allegations contained in the petition would not be ignored, stressing that appropriate steps would be taken to determine their merit.
“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” the statement added.
The confirmation by the ICPC comes amid heightened public scrutiny over regulatory transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly following recent public allegations that have drawn national attention to the operations of key regulatory agencies.
