… Declares Support for Indirect Mode of Primary

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Idanre Local Government Area have declared their preference for the consolidation of the various achievements in Ondo State in the last three and half years.

The leaders who include Local Government, Wards and Units Executives with members of the Elders Forum of APC in Idanre Local Area at a strategic meeting held at the Party Secretariat in Odode, Idanre, to appraise political developments ahead of the Party primary to pick the candidate of the Party for the Governorship Election in October this year, resolved to work and ensure that their votes are all for the candidature of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, during the APC Primary election.

The APC stalwarts who used the meeting to support the Indirect Mode of Primary Election to choose the Party’s candidate, commended the National Caretaker Committee of the APC for the development which; according to them; will further entrench democracy based on orderliness and quality representation symbolized by the Party executives.

While adopting Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for a second term in office as Governor of Ondo State, the leaders said the October 20 Governorship election will be used to appreciate the Governor for fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises for the ancient town of Idanre and other towns in the Local Government.

The Chairman of the Party in the Council Area; Mr Olumide Adeoti; said the numerous projects executed by the Arakunrin Akeredolu administration across the state in less than four years are eloquent testimonies to the commitment of the Governor at redefining governance for the wellbeing of residents of the state.

“All of us, from the Units, Wards and Local Government executives are solidly behind Akeredolu. We’re supporting him because of his developmental projects in the areas of roads, schools and water provision. The water project in Alade-Idanre is completed. We also have about eight township roads that have been renovated. This is apart from the new road from Akure to Idanre. These are why we’re supporting him for a second term”, the Chairman said.

To the Central Senatorial Woman Leader, Mrs. Aderonke Akindolire, Governor Akeredolu is a leader who walks his talk. She said the people have found in the Governor someone ‘whose words are his bonds’.

She said, “Idanre people are for Governor Akeredolu. We’re happy for all he has done for Idanre. When I was young, I used to think that my town; Idanre; was the last town in the state because there was no other route to or from the town. When Akeredolu came to campaign in 2016, there was an ambush along the road. Upon realisation that there was no other road to Idanre, he promised to construct another road that will lead to Akure. Today, he has done it. He is Mr. Talk-and-Do. He said it, and he did it. So, we’re happy and grateful to him”.

The Chairman of Elders’ Forum in Idanre Local Government , Chief Igbatoyo Akinnibisi said judging by the enormous performances of Governor Akeredolu across all sectors, continuity should be the focus of members of APC across the state.

While canvassing more support for the re-election of the Governor, Chief Akinnibisi said Ondo State cannot afford to abandon a trusted and performing Governor to embrace a beginner which he said will truncate the current pace of development in the Sunshine State.

A member of the State Executive Council; the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, who is also from Idanre, Mr Yemi Olowolabi; said his people are solidly supporting the Governor’s second term ambition to deepen democratic governance across the state.

His words: “Based on the objective assessment of the rate of development in Idanre in the last three and a half years, we make bold to say that we have not seen anything like this before. Therefore, all the leaders of APC in Idanre Local Government; from the Units, to the Wards and to the Local Government executives, we have all unanimously resolved and agreed with a strong determination to support our governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria; in his re-election bid”.

Also the Secretary of APC Leaders Forum in Idanre, Hon. Sunday Akinwalere commended the Governor for the all-round development of Idanre and the entire state since coming on board as Governor of the state.

“Each time we support an Owo man, Idanre use to have a great deal of largesse in the dividends of democracy. During Baba Ajasin’s time, a lot was done for Idanre; and thank God that during this Akeredolu time, he promised to do another road for us; a virgin road that will lead to Akure. Within three months of his swearing-in, he did the road. Today, we’re happy. Apart from that road, township roads all over Idanre are being constructed and renovated. Our schools were refurbished. Our health facilities were upgraded. These are the reasons why all the leaders have all come together to say we want Aketi for the second time”, he said.

Other leaders cited Governor Akeredolu’s laudable achievements across all sectors of the economy as the reason for throwing their weights behind his second term ambition.
