The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over separate rescue of kidnap victims in Anambra and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Police operatives, alongside personnel, on Sunday rescued a female officer of the Nigerian Navy and two other individuals who were abducted by gunmen on Friday in the Mpape Area of the FCT.
Reacting to the development in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi , the IGP lauded the Police operatives for collaborating with other sister agencies for the rescue operation.
“The operatives of the FCT Police Command in collaboration with the Nigerian Military, the DSS Hunters and Local Vigilantes swung into action in a bid to rescue the kidnapped victims and they were all rescued on the 23rd of March, 2025.
“The 3 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt at Anguwan Mu’azu area of Nasarawa State, and the operatives arrested 4 suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction,” the statement reads.
The IGP also commended operatives of the Anambra State Command over rescue of three kidnap victims who were abducted at Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the State.
“While commending the officers for their firm collaboration, show of bravery and dedication to ensuring the country is rid of criminally-minded elements, IGP has assured Nigerians, again, of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership to continually strategise to curb crimes including violent crimes, and safeguarding lives and property of the citizens of our dear country.”
