Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has advised recently released minors to stay away from violent protests.
Speaking in Hausa at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital on Tuesday night, he urged them to embrace peace and discourage others from disruptive activities.
“Do not engage in any form of violent protest,” the governor warned. “Wherever you see youths planning a protest, discourage them, as you have now become advocates of peace.”
Governor Yusuf called on the minors to learn from their experience and spread the message of non-violence. He said the State’s Commissioner of Education would review their educational status: those out of school will be reintegrated, while those running small businesses will receive financial support.
The governor added that the minors would undergo thorough medical check-ups at the hospital over the next few days to ensure they are fit to return home. He emphasized the importance of cooperating with doctors during this process.
Yusuf also thanked President Bola Tinubu for responding to public concerns about the strict bail conditions and for pardoning the minors.
Parents expressed their gratitude to President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf, and human rights advocates for facilitating the release of their children.
