The Kano State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of two notorious armed robbers specialized in car snatching and armed robbery.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 said the suspects snatched a Ford Escape vehicle from an Air Force officer at gunpoint during a robbery at the victim’s residence in Karu, Abuja.

According to the PPRO, the achievement stems from actionable intelligence and prompt action by the Command’s operatives.

“On October 29, 2025, at about 03:15am, armed robbers invaded a residence in Karu, Abuja, robbed an unspecified amount of money, mobile phones and an Air Force Officer’s Ford Escape Motor Vehicle. Intelligence reports indicated the suspects were heading towards Kano State,” the statement read.

” Acting on this, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the motor vehicle along Kano-Zaria Expressway near Salbas Filling Station. During the Operation, the suspects opened fire, and in the ensuing exchange, two of them were demobilized and arrested.

“The arrested suspects are: Adamu Adam Abubakar, male, of Zoo Road, Kano and Umar Bello, male, of Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State.

“Both suspects were occupants of the recovered vehicle. Unfortunately, one Dan Malam (surname unknown) escaped with a pistol and some of the robbed valuables, and is currently being trailed.

“CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, commends the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters Abuja for their support and coordination, and the Command’s Operatives for their commitment on the success recorded.

“He urges citizens to continue to support the police with timely information to tackle insecurity, and assures the public that the Command will leave no stone unturned in bringing the fleeing suspect to justice.”
