KDSG Flags off N12.8b Kafanchan Urban Renewal  Road Projects

The Kaduna State Government has flagged off 12.8 billion roads projects in Kafanchan City the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area.

The construction of the Kafanchan Urban Renewal roads projects, which is an initiative of the el-Rufai’s administration and in fulfillment of his campaign promise, was geared towards massive intervention on access and link roads, boost security and increase the socio-economic well-being of residents of the area.

The newly reconstructed 21 roads were designed with walkways, street lights and standard drainage systems.

Speaking at the formal flag off, the Managing Director, Kaduna State Roads Agency, Engr. Mohammed Magaji said the remarkable projects in Kafanchan town was a confirmation of a promise kept of Governor Nasir el-Rufai to the people of Southern Kaduna.

Mohammed disclosed that FarmTrack Nigerian limited would handle the 18 roads while Rafali Nigeria limited Company would be handling the 3 dualization roads in the city.

According to him the 18 roads are for expansion, adding they’ve done the exercise of all the roads and handed them over for the 2 contractors for immediate commencement work.

” The 18 roads are about 15.534 killometers while the dualise roads are about 10.8 kilometers making a total of 26.334 kilometers.

He said the total cost for the two projects is 12.8 billion and the contractors are expected to finished the projects within maximum of 18 Months.

The MD further explained that the 18 roads and the dualise roads are the first phase while other roads would be captured in the second phase.

He called people in the area to support the Government and cooperate with the contractors so that they can deliver their work within the stipulated time.

While fielding question from Journalists, Commissioner for Budget and planning, Mr Toma Gyan said the Urban Renewal projects is aimed at improving the roads that are in the town.

” Like Kafanchan, is a narrow town bounded by 2 rivers, we are trying to see how we can built bridges across so that we can expand the town.

” By next week Kafanchan residents would see equipment rolling into town for commencement of the roads projects.

Toma, also enjoin residents in the Area to pray for the good health of the governor and give their unflinching cooperation and alot will be achieve,” Gyang said.

Commenting on Zauru Bridge, he disclosed that they already had a discussion with the governor on the bridge and the new road on how they’re going to link them up on the second phase.

The entourage later paid homage to the Emir of Jema’a to solicit for the support of the Community for smooth execution of the roads projects.
