The Kebbi State Government has dismissed reports that bandits invaded Maku-ku village in Sakaba Local Government Area and killed several people.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, described the claim aired by a local FM station in Birnin Kebbi as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday, Idris clarified that the reported attack occurred in Rijau, Niger State, not in Kebbi.

“There was no such incident in Kebbi. The report is misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic,” he said, urging the radio station to retract the report and apologise to the public.

He further stated that the military base established in Sakaba by the state government had strengthened security in the area.

Idris urged residents to disregard the report and go about their normal activities, reaffirming that security agencies were fully supported to maintain peace across the state.
