The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman has assured the Handball Federation of Nigeria of the state government’s support in the forthcoming handball competition billed to hold in the State.
The Governor stated this on Tuesday while receiving representatives of the Handball Federation of Nigeria in his office.
Represented by the deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, the Governor said the renovation of the handball court at the Ilorin Township Stadium will be completed and all necessary facilities will be put in place before the game’s commencement.
He called for discipline among the competitors especially due to Covid-19 protocols saying, movement around Ilorin by the athletes would be disallowed.
The Governor also advised all competitors to be on ground for the Covid-19 screening before the commencement of the competition.
Earlier, the President, Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mr Samuel Ocheho appreciated the government for its support for handball, especially the “great work done in the Handball court at the Kwara State stadium.”
He also commended the government for hosting the Handball competition in 2019 and implored it to put a local organising committee in place for a successful outing.
