Lagos State Government has revealed that payment of insurance death benefits to beneficiaries of deceased civil servants has amounted to N2,672,305,372.59.
Commissioner for Finance, Yomi Oluyomi, disclosed this at a ministerial press conference at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre Alausa, Ikeja on Tuesday.
“Insurance death benefits paid from 2019 till date to the beneficiaries of deceased civil servants amounts to N2,672,305,372.59,” he said.
“Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu shortly on assumption of office in 2018, commenced the payment of Group Life Policies insurance premium for welfare of staff as well as non-life premium for all the assets of the State Government within Lagos State,” Oluyomi stated.
The Commissioner disclosed that the Land Use Charge Assessment Appeal Tribunal (LACUUT) treated 2,082 complaints which were resolved using administrative, meditation and Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) processes.
“The tribunal in the year under review treated 2,082 complaints received via walk-ins, letters, petitions, referrals, telephone calls,WhatsApp, resolution week programme etc., and they were resolved using Administrative, meditation and Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) processes.
“The Tribunal introduced remote resolution to afford property owners in diaspora the opportunity of resolving their complaints/ disputes without physical attendance,” he said.

Oluyomi added that the Tribunal’s impacts within the review period included clearing backlogs of property owners who had high Land use charge arrears using mediation efforts to resolve long-standing issues and improved service delivery through the introduction of e-channels as means of initiating and resolving complaints.
