The mutilated body of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha Abubakar, who went missing in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State, has been found in a bush at the outskirts of her village.

The minor went missing after she was sent to buy soya beans by her parents at about 5:40 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026 but did not return home.

Her disappearance immediately raised concern among family members and residents, who began searching for her.

Her lifeless body was found in a hole in a bush on Tuesday, January 27, throwing the community into shock and mourning.

The spokesperson for the Gombe State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident said the command has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the murder.

According to the PPRO, preliminary observations showed signs of violence, with parts of the body mutilated.

“We have received a report of a culpable homicide incident today (Tuesday) at about 1200hrs from Malam Abubakar, the father of the victim, one Aisha Abubakar, aged 15,” the statement read.

“She was sent on an errand to buy soya beans on January 26, 2026, at about 1740hrs but did not return home and could not be located despite frantic searches around the village and its surroundings.

“Unfortunately, her lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of the village today (Tuesday), January 27, 2026.”

He added that police detectives promptly visited the scene and documented it in line with security procedures.

“Preliminary observations showed signs of violence, with parts of the body mutilated. The corpse was evacuated to the hospital for medical examination,” Abdullahi said.

He assured that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being made to identify and arrest the perpetrator(s).

The command appealed to residents of the village to support ongoing investigations and urged them not to take the law into their own hands.
