President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the recent flooding in parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The President who ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist the flood victims called for the immediate evacuation of people from affected areas.
The severe flood, considered the worst in decades, has displaced thousands of residents and affected critical infrastructure, including the Maiduguri Post Office and the Teaching Hospital.
Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday, extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly to families who have lost their means of livelihood due to the disaster caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.
While assessments of the damage are ongoing, the President assured Governor Babagana Zulum that the Federal Government is ready to collaborate with the state to address the immediate humanitarian needs of those affected by the flood.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing federal resources to support Borno State during this challenging time.
