Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has reiterated his administration’s readiness to revamp the State’s security system.
The Governor stated this at the Zonal Peace and Security Committee of the Ibadan Outer City inauguration on Monday held at Award Hall, Akinyele Local Government Secretariat, Moniya, Ibadan.
According to the Governor, security challenges in the country can only be tackled properly when stakeholders and individuals neglect party affiliations, tribes and ethnic disposition
He noted that Federal and State governments at all levels have bigger steps to take to curb insecurity ravaging the Country.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief ‘Bayo Lawal said the Governor has ordered that a Peace Security Committee be inaugurated in the 7 Geopolitical Zones in the State to enhance the activities of the security agencies.
The Commissioner also revealed that Ibadan Outer Zone Committee comprises of Akinyele , Iddo, Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Egbeda and Lagelu Local Governments and that their Local Council Development areas will work together.
He further said that the committee members will have representatives from government security agencies and local security groups such as the Amotekun corps, Community Development Centre, religious groups, vigilantes, and non-indigene within the areas.
While appreciating the present government in the state for its efforts in curbing insecurity ravaging the country which Oyo state is not exempted, the Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, Egbeda, Engr. Adisa Moses, urged State government to see to the rebuilding of affected police Stations damaged during the #EndSars Protest.(OA)
