The Presidency has dismissed as false reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed reports describing it as a fabrication aimed at creating disaffection within government.
This comes after several social media posts began circulating the unverified claim of a change in the Chief of Staff position.
But the presidential spokesman called on Nigerians to disregard it, describing the viral claim as false.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” Onanuga said.
“The Chief of Staff remains in his position.
“The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff,” Onanuga said.
The Presidency said the claim was the handiwork of mischievous purveyors of fake news whose intention was to sow discord and mislead the public.
It reiterated the need for media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing unverified reports.
The Presidency urged Nigerians to rely on official channels for accurate information on government activities.
